Audience profile
Target audience information!

-Age:11-18

-Gender: Females and males

-Lifestyle: Likes/Dislikes

Females like celebrity biographies so I can interview a celebrity about their time in school, they want the latest beauty tips and they like things related to them so they like stuff about prom.

Males like football and keeping fit so that could come under the latest beauty tips.

-Demographic profile: social class/income/jobs

As my magazine is aimed at students non of them have a job so they don’t have a high income. This is why the magazine is going to be free. And the students main income will probably be their parent/career. Students who attend this school are from working class or middle class backgrounds.

-Describe your typical magazine reader:

My typical magazine reader will be interested in latest celebs as well as still being interested in their education so they would want to know more about their school. But they want their school magazine to include things they like for example prom or football. Also if they want help they can ask the aunt agony page and this is good of helping them as students go through a lot during school.

For my main cover:here's my planning:
I want my main image to be an high angle shot as it could be looking down at the students so this can suggest for the students something bad is coming their way which is exams. And for this picture have the lighting which will be back lit which will create suspension and mystery. So the the students will wonder what’s coming their way.
And maybe I was thinking about either having the student of the week on my magazine cover as a head on shot and then have sell lines around that image. So if I did this image I would have the lighting beginning top lit to show the audience that they are something special and important.
For my colours I will be using blues and purples. As blue represents authority and stays with the theme of our school. And purple represents royalty and luxury.
Sell lines:

Sell lines are a key part of the magazine as they grab the attention of the audience as they know what will be in the magazine. And they they are essential for a magazine so here are my sell lines:
-‘Leaving the school, it was a brilliant 5 years”
-Get help on this week’s topic “I aunty agony want to help you with exam stress”
-Who can beat the riddle this week? For your chance to win prizes
-”I Jessie J got bullied at my days in school read my story”
-”See the latest Prom pictures”

-”The school council wants your views”
-"Help the art team join up now"

Analysis of my questionnaire:

Results from school magazine:

1) The people who took part in my survey were all aged between11-18+

In fact:

3 people were aged 11-12

5 people were aged 13-14

2 people were aged 15-16

1 person was aged between 17-18 years

2 people were aged 18+

I surveyed 13 people in total I think surveying 13 people in total was helpful. As my school magazine is aimed at students who are aged between 11-18. Also my magazine is aimed for 18+ people so (teachers).

2)90% do read magazines and they said their favourite genre was between music: 30%, football: 40%, and gossip: 30%.

10% don’t read magazines.

3) A lot of people had a lot different reasons why they like certain genres here are some feedback:

-“I like the genre music as I found out the latest music and I can read interviews on upcoming new artists which really excites me.”

-“I like the genre football as I get information on the scores and I can also found out which players are getting signed.”

-“I like gossip magazines as they give me the latest gossip I can keep up with the celebrity feuds and know the latest beauty secrets which celebrities use.”

4)60% read the school magazine

40% don’t read the school magazine.

5)60% said the same thing they said they would change the whole school magazine.

30% said they would leave it how it is

10% said they don’t care

6)80% would like longer articles

20% would like shorter articles

7)50% would mind if there is a gossip column

50% wouldn’t mind if there is a gossip column

8)70% would like celebrity gossip

30% wouldn’t like celebrity gossip

9)50% would want a football page

50% wouldn’t want a football page.

10)80% wouldn’t mind if they were featured in the                        school magazine.

20% would mind if they were featured.

11)70% would want there to be an activity section.

80% would want word searches, 20% riddles

30% wouldn’t like an activity section

12)50% would want weekly competitions

50% wouldn’t want weekly completions.

                  13) 70%want an aunty agony help page

30% wouldn’t want an aunty agony help page

Most of the 70% of people said they would want an aunty agony help page as it will help them and they feel confident asking he/she anything as everything is confidential.

14)

20%-School council, 5%-Teachers, 0%-Random person, 5%-A celebrity, 20%-Yourself, 70%-don’t really mind anyone.

Doing my analysis was helpful as I can clearly see the difference in percentages. The highest percentage will be included in my magazine and the lowest won’t be as my target audience don’t want those things from a magazine.

Week 1

As I wasn't  here for week 1 the second week was my first week :)

I had to do a lot of catching up to do as I missed the introduction for Media Studies(AS). Which wasn't a problem as I straight away got on with the task. Which was getting familiar with Photoshop. I thinking playing around with Photoshop is the easy part as you do naturally get familiar with the tools.

However creating an actual magazine cover from scratch is quite difficult as it doesn't look professional. But I think you if you properly get familiar with the tools and know what tools do what job you will be fine.

In this lesson I learnt key skills which were

-How to crop an image

-How to resize an image

-Which colours really compliment each other

By playing with Photoshop it does help as when it comes to doing my actual magazine cover I will know exactly what to do. Which tools will help me get the cover that I want to create. So I won't be wasting time and I can get straight onto do doing my magazine cover. I think the most helpful tool for me was the paint tool and crop tool as I can paint backgrounds with the paint tool and pick many colours. And the crop tool was helpful as I could crop anything that I wanted and crop things that I didn't want.

In conclusion hope you enjoy my ammeter magazine cover :)
